I cannot believe 2017 is over! It seems to have flown by in a blink of an eye. PaleGirlRambling had an unplanned break and was a little quiet in the run up to Christmas but I’m back and super excited to create lots of content in 2018! What better way to kick off the new year than with a round up of my favourite makeup bits of 2017.
Tarte Shape Tape
Tarte’s Shape Tape concealer was something I tried to put off buying for the longest time. I hated that I couldn’t go to a store to swatch and check if it’d be truly pale enough for me. In a moment of madness during one of Tarte’s free international shipping weekends I crazily pressed the order button and I couldn’t be more glad that I did! There’s a full review of Shape Tape along with comparison swatches to my old favourite Nars Radiant Creamy concealer so that you can compare shades. This full coverage concealer has been a life saver in 2017 and I can see it being a makeup bag staples for years!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation & Matte Revolution Lipstick
This post wouldn’t be right without some Charlotte Tilbury obsessing. I could talk about all the CT products that I own, the brand as a whole has been my favourite 2017 discovery but Charlotte’s Magic Foundation and Matte Revolution Lipsticks are right at the top of my list. If you’re yet to try a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick then I’d advise making that your number 1 thing to do in 2018 (priorities right?!) the formula is next to none and I’m obsessed with Pillow Talk and Very Victoria in particular. I can’t wait to try more shades from the range along with more from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Collection.
The fact I got to work with Charlotte Tilbury on the launch of their Beauty Icons Gift Set was one of my highlights of 2017, it was a dream to work with one of my all time favourite brands, something I never thought would happen yet alone in my first year of blogging!
Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics
Another of my favourite beauty discoveries this year was Urban Decay’s Naked Ultimate Basics Palette. I’ve loved all the Naked palettes I’ve tried this year but the Ultimate Basics has by far had the most use! It’s an all matte palette perfect for everyday eyeshadow. The shadows are pigmented and blend like a dream. I have a full review of the Ultimate Basics palette with swatches but let me tell you it’s well worth investing in. I’ve used this palette for most eye looks in one way or another in 2017.
Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder
Kevyn Aucion’s Scuplting Powder was something I’d lusted after for years. It’s been coveted in the blogging and YouTube world since it was released and as soon as I tried it I could see why. Kevyn Aucion have released the sculpting powder in light, medium and dark so there’s a shade for everyone. This little contour powder is pricey but well worth the splurge in my opinion. It’s like a contour for dummies and makes you look flawless!
AHB Cosmetics Strobe & Highlight Palette
AHB Cosmetics was a brand I came across thanks to blogging and I’m so glad I did. The Strobe & Highlight palette is currently their only product but it’s a good one! I have never used a powder with no fall out until this one! I can’t get over how they do it but you don’t waste any product at all. I’ve used this palette an insane amount over 2017 and it looks basically untouched so although it’s an investment it’s well worth it for how long it’ll last! Seriously check out the swatches and you’ll be obsessed!
I can’t believe that’s 2017 over, I cannot wait to see what new makeup bits I come across in 2018, I’ve already got some new products on the way that I can’t wait to try out over the next few weeks.
My top skincare picks of 2017 will be live next week and I’ll be back to my usual schedule so keep an eye out for that.
