Our Babymoon – Travel Essentials + Vlog

Every article I’ve read on the second trimester of pregnancy says to take a ‘babymoon’, our’s wasn’t technically meant to be one as we booked it before we found out Squish was on the way. Needless to say though we headed off to the mountains of Bormio in Italy anyway and minus the fact I couldn’t actually ski it was amazing to see all the incredible views! I can’t wait to tell Squish that he/she was up 3000m in the Italian mountains while in mummy’s tummy!

Babymoon blog and travel Essentials to Italy

We vlogged parts of our trip so I’ll include the video at the end of this post if you’d like to have a nosey. I also talked you through my makeup and skincare travel essentials in the vlog so you can laugh at my ‘minimal’ packing!

If you’re expecting and planning a babymoon I would now say from experience, don’t pick some where with a long travel distance. Our flight was 2 and a half hours which was doable and not too uncomfortable. Unfortunately once we got to Italy, as we were headed to the mountains, we had just over a 5 hour coach journey. This is definitely not something I’d advise if you’re pregnant. It was uncomfortable, stressful due to a lack of toilets (pregnancy bladders are not cut out for long car or bus journeys!) and honestly just not worth doing in my opinion.

I’d also advise making sure you factor in a proper rest day after you arrive at your babymoon location because travel tires you out normally never mind if you’re pregnant, I definitely needed a full day (maybe even two if I’m honest) to get over the journey here!

Finally make sure to bring your usual pregnancy comforts. If you’ve been reading my pregnancy updates you’ll know I’ve been really suffering with back pain and I truly wish I’d brought my pregnancy pillow or bump support band with me. Thankfully Tim packed a hot water bottle for me which helped a bit but it still made our trip a little sucky that I could barely sleep at night due to the back pain.

I hope you enjoy my little Italy vlog, I used it as a practice as I’m planning to start vlogging parts of my pregnancy and hopefully some videos after Squish actually gets here so please do let me know your thoughts in the comments! (And maybe subscribe to my YouTube?! As right now I have 0 subscribers!)

Awh great tips! Having not been pregnant nor planning to be, I’ve never heard of the babymoon idea but I think it’s a great one! It seems like the perfect time to take a break, just the two of you, before you get TOO pregnant and before the baby arrives! Your photo is stunning, what a view. Glad you had a lovely time 🙂 xxx

What a fabulous idea, a babymoon!! I’ve never heard of one before but you better believe when I have a baby I’ll be forcing my boyfriend (hopefully husband by then) to go on one haha. I’d love to go to that part of Italy. It looks so gorgeous with all that snow and so peaceful. Although a long coach trip with no loos definitely doesn’t sound the most fun. xx

5 hours on a coach sounds rough anyway never mind with a bump on your bladder! The views look amazing. Such a shame you can’t ski right now….I guess that means you’ll have to go back again. I’m off to subscribe x
