If you’re a pale girl like me you’ll know that finding foundations and concealers that aren’t orange is a real struggle. Even ‘porcelain’ in so many brands is about three shades too dark for me. Concealer in particular is next to impossible as it needs to be a shade lighter than your foundation to allow it to blend flawlessly. I’ve spent years trying many concealers and only found three that truly suit my ghostly skin.
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Chantilly was the first concealer I fell head over heels in love with! It’s ghostly pale and has a lovely creamy consistency as the name suggests. I’d say this is a medium coverage concealer as you can still see the odd blemish poking through when using this and it only dries to a satin finish. I particularly love it for under my eyes as it highlights the area and helps to disguise those dreaded under eye dark circles that a lot of pale girls suffer with! It has a small doe foot applicator which makes application super easy.
Nars Soft Matte Concealer
As I loved the Radiant Creamy Concealer so much I thought I’d try out the Nars Soft Matte in the same shade, Chantilly. Unlike the creamy concealer, the soft matte comes in a little pot and is applied using your fingers rather than a doe foot applicator. This has a much fuller coverage and as the name suggests, has a matte finish. I particularly love this concealer for blemishes, it covers them very well. I like to apply with my finger (this warms the product up) and then blend out with a beauty blender. Strangely this concealer is a little darker than the Radiant Creamy but not enough that it’s unwearable.
Tarte Shape Tape
Tarte Shape Tape in Fair was an impulse buy for me. I’d read so many glowing reviews online that I just took the plunge and ordered online! Something I’ve never done with a concealer or foundation before due to my ghostly complexion. Thankfully the risk paid off and Tarte’s Shape Tape has become one of my holy grail products. The large doe foot applicatior makes application super easy and due to the full coverage matte finish you can use this to conceal under eye bags and blemishes. This is my favourite all rounder concealer and my go to for everyday. I have a full review of Tarte’s Shape Tape if you’d like to know more.

As always my swatches are unedited to try and show the shades in as true as likeness as possible.
Tarte’s Shape Tape & Nars’ Radiant Creamy Concealer are almost identical in shade, Shape Tape looks slightly darker than the Radiant Creamy but I think this is just because Shape Tape has a fuller coverage. You can see very clearly the shade variation before the Radiant Creamy and Soft Matte but honestly once blended into the skin you can’t notice the shade difference.
