Let’s be honest, pregnancy is an amazing thing but boy is it tough on the body! The aches, pains and symptoms can be rather frustrating at times so there’s no better treat than a pregnancy massage in your second or third trimester! So off I headed to Galgorm for some well deserved pampering.
The Galgorm Resort and Spa has always been one of my favourite places to visit when I want to chill out and relax. The resort has gorgeous grounds for relaxing walks, a thermal village full of hot tubs, pools, loungers, saunas and steam rooms, 2 on site restaurants and luxurious rooms with the dreamiest most massive beds! I booked a night away to relax, dress up, have a wee night to enjoy myself before Squish’s arrival!
Obviously when you’re pregnant it’s advised not to use hot tubs and heated rooms (you risk increasing your blood pressure) so the team at Galgorm kindly treated me to the Ultimate Rose Pregnancy Massage*. I had a blissful hour being pampered and boy was it amazing!
I was met by my lovely therapist Donna who introduced herself and talked me through what the treatment entailed. She discussed how much pressure I would like alongside any health concerns I may need to make her aware of. She then let me sample the three different massage oil options to decide which I liked best. One rich in Chamomile, the other in Macadamia and the final (and my favourite) the Rose oil.
I then got myself comfortable on the lounger (on my left side as obviously with my growing bump I can’t lie on my tummy) closed my eyes and relaxed. The treatment starts with a relaxing and oh so amazing back massage, it helped with all my aches and back pain. My therapist worked away at some knots in my shoulders and was super gentle around my tender lower back. This was followed by a Rose facial and scalp massage using Aromatherapy Associates hydrating and renewing Rose skincare line. My skin was cleansed, toned and moisturised and the products felt amazing on my skin. Finally the treatment was finished off with an arm, hand and leg massage using aromatherapy oils to hydrate my dry pregnancy skin. I cannot believe how fast the hour flew by, it was complete and utter bliss!
Once my treatment was over I was escorted to the relaxation room to chill out. Relaxing with a bowl of the creamiest mango sorbet watching the fish tanks and listening to calming music, I hadn’t felt that relaxed in months! After some more chilling out I headed back into the real world and went for a swim in one of the thermal village pools!

I’m not sure if it was the massage or the super comfy Galgorm bed but I slept like a baby that night! Honestly I couldn’t recommend the treatment more, I already want to go back for another! Galgorm is an amazing place to visit no matter what the occasion but I think it was particularly great to visit at the end of my second trimester for some me time before things get crazy with my little baby!
