Don’t forget to check out what to pack in a mama to be’s hospital bag and my 5 Baby Essentials!
When it came to packing the baby’s hospital bag I was a little over whelmed. I don’t want to be the over stressed mum with a suitcase of baby things but I also don’t want to not bring enough as our hospital is a good 25/30 minute drive away! I thought it would be helpful to create some posts of what I’m packing both to help other mummies to be and also to hear anything that you found really helpful to bring when you were in hospital with your little one.
I’m using my gorgeous Babymel Anya Changing Bag in Dusty Pink as Squish’s hospital bag. It has lots of handy pockets to pop things in and also comes with a travel changing mat which will be super handy for any nappy changes on the way home from the hospital.
Of course nappies are an essential for the hospital bag, I’m bringing a carry pack of pampers just for ease, I’m not sure which brand of nappies I’ll go for in the future but the handy 22 pack was perfect for the hospital. I’m also bringing a pack of Water Wipes. Some people advise cotton wool and water, others have said water wipes are the way to go so I thought I’d bring them just in case.
I’ve popped in a five pack of newly washed Aden + Anais Muslins for the inevitable baby spit up and sick. I’ve also packed a little Cloud pattern Bib from Mamas and Papas to protect Squish’s outfit on the way home.
Clothing wise, as I don’t know the gender yet I’m bringing my fav gender neutral set from The Essential One. It consists of 3 newborn size baby grows and 5 newborn size vests. I’m hoping we’ll not be in hospital too long so this should be enough! Although Squish has been measuring small throughout my pregnancy I’m bringing 2 baby grows from Next in ‘Up to 1 Month’ and 2 Mothercare Vests in ‘Up to 1 Month’ just in case Squish arrives bigger than expected!
For going home I’ve packed two gorgeous little hats from Next in first size as well as a wee 0-3 month cardigan in case it’s cold. Obviously Squish is due in August but babies can’t regulate their temperature so I’d rather have some extra layers to be on the safe side!
Blanket wise I think I may have over packed but I wanted to have a blanket for every case! I’ve popped in 2 newly washed Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddles, everything I’ve read has said swaddling really comforts newborns so I’m sure these will get lots of use. They can also be popped over the car seat on the way out to shade Squish from the weather.
I’ve then packed the cutest Baby Mori Forest Cotton & Bamboo Blanket which is nice and lightweight and a Mama Designs Cellular Blanket for breathability.
Last but not least I couldn’t help myself, I had to pop in the little JoJo Maman Bébé Giraffe Comforter. This was the first thing I got for Squish and although it’ll just sit there I think it’ll be nice to have for a wee photo and to tell Squish about when he or she is older.
Is there anything you brought that isn’t in my baby bag that you found super helpful?
