Summerproof Makeup

This on going heatwave has been a killer. (I’m sorry but I’m really not a fan of the heat!) The heat both here and when you’re on your summer holidays plays havoc with your makeup so I thought I’d put together a list of products to summerproof your makeup and make it last!

Summerproof Makeup

A good base is key to making your makeup last throughout the day, even more so during the hot summer months. Keeping skin hydrated stops makeup sinking into pores and fine lines so a good moisturiser is a necessity. My current favourite is Clarins Multi Active Jour SPF 20. It’s super moisturising without leaving a greasy residue. My favourite thing about it though is the SPF content. Heat means sunshine and it’s so important to protect your skin. My other current favourite base product is Touch in Sol’s Dark Out primer. Again this primer has SPF 30 so protects my skin from the sunshine, this also smooths my skin so my foundation or B.B. cream can be applied easily.

Once you’ve aced your base and applied your foundation and other base products there’s a few products I find really help to make my makeup last.

Summerproof Makeup

Lancome’s Monsieur Big mascara has been around for a while and has glowing reviews. It’s been on my to try list for quite a while now but when I saw they’d released a waterproof version I thought it’d be the perfect addition to my summer makeup bag and boy was I right! This mascara does not shift. I apply this first thing in the morning around 7:30am and it still looks flawless at 10pm at night with no flaking or smuding. The only thing I’ve actually found that removes this is Lancome’s Bi Facial makeup remover so I’d maybe consider purchasing this alongside the mascara to make removal easier! I’m so head over heels for this mascara though, it is made for summertime and a must have for your holiday makeup bag.

Glossier’s Boy Brow is perfect for setting your brows in place all day long. It doesn’t make your brow hairs all ‘crispy’ which I’ve found a lot of other brow gels do and once applied it does not budge.

Summerproof Makeup

Finally a dusting of Touch in Sol’s Pang Pang Sun Cutting Powder and a spritz of Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray sets my face for the whole day. Touch in Sol’s Pang Pang Powder is a powder SPF. I have a full review if you want to know more but I absolutely love it. The powder protects your skin from the sun but also soaks up any oils throughout the day. Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray is my go to all year round for setting my makeup in place but it really comes into it’s own during the summer. It’s the setting spray I swear by and a must have for everyone’s summer makeup bag.

What are your favourite products for making your makeup last all day in the summertime? Do you put an emphasis on SPF during the summer months?

Omg yes, this is the post I needed! I don’t know how people who live in hot countries do it- my makeup lasts about 10 seconds in the current UK weather! Thank you so much for these recommendations!

    Sending you good vibes!

I’d love to try out the Monsieur Big mascara but hate mascaras that are hard to remove, so we’ll see.

I’ve been loving L’Oreal’s pro-glow and Maybelline’s Fit Me foundations for summer, as well as my Technic Cosmetics Get Gorgeous highlighter.

Lancome have a non waterproof version that isn’t a pain to take off so maybe try it out if you’d rather have one easier to take off!
Ohh I’ll have to check out those foundations, I heard amazing things in particular about the pro glow!

I have a feeling that as soon as I invest in all these products the sun will go away and we’ll be back to normal british weather lol! But regardless I think I really need to get the UD spray. I always hear so much about it but I’ve just never got round to buying it!

I heard great this about Urban Decay’s setting spray! I wanna try the Glossier brow gel since I mainly do my brows in the summer, it’ll be nice to have something in the summer that will keep them from looking too sweaty.

I need to try the Urban Decay setting spray, the only ones I’ve used make my skin even more dry than normal. I’ve been using a CC cream instead of a foundation as this tends to slide right off in a heat wave, maybe with a setting spray it would actually stay put. i also love the sound of that Clarins moisturizer, especially as it has SPF.

Do you find the Urban Decay setting spray good for setting your eye makeup? Mine constantly smudges into a mess in this heat, it all gather around my crease!

I don’t put much make up in the summer, but I am very interested in the brow gel. I never used one and my brows… they need it! Great post. Also, I read that the Lancome Mascara is really good.

Setting spray has been my saviour and the audacious mascara from Nars has helped too. But it is quite hard to get off which sucks for lazy Rosie trying to get into bed!

I’m having such a hard time with my makeup right now! The heat is making my skin so dry that the only foundations that look good are my really dewy ones. But the dewy ones also love to slide around my face and melt really easily. I’m yet to find the perfect combination. I’ve heard so many amazing things about the boy brow, I really need to get around to trying it! x
