Moving house with a baby

Moving house with a baby has to be hands down one of the most stressful things I’ve done. I’m still full of baby brain so remembering the hundred and one things you need to do while moving is proving impossible. Here’s my top tips for having a stress free house move with a little one in tow!

Step 1 – Find a house removals company

Finding a reliable removal company should be top priority when moving house. You shouldn’t only look at the cost and compare moving house quotes but also if a company has insurance, whether they provide boxes, if they offer a packing and unpacking service and also if they charge extra on weekends. Knowing your possessions are in good hands will take a lot of the stress away and happy mummy always equals happy baby!

Step 2 – Plan

Trying to pack with a baby needs a lot of planning. Once you’ve booked your removal company you need to set a plan in place on how you’re going to pack. You need to remember to leave out all your baby essentials so that you’re not stuck sorting through boxes trying to find the spare nappies or your child’s favourite toy. Take some time to sit down and plan how and when you’re going to pack each room up and make a list of the important things that you need to leave to the last minute.

Step 3 – Label

Labelling your boxes will make you’re unpacking experience so much easier. Don’t just label the box with the stuff inside, also add what room it’s going to go in. This will make it much easier for the removal company and also cut down on the time they’re dropping off your things and therefore cut down on cost!

Step 4 – Get some help

Ask some friends or family members to come and give you a hand. Whether they pack up a few cupboards for you or sit and play some games with your baby while you do some last minute organising, having an extra pair of hands about when moving house will really help.

What are your top tips for moving house with a baby? Did you find it a stressful experience?
