Ahhh skincare, my weakness! I have so many skincare products it’s scary, I’m such a sucker for a new cleanser or face mask. If you’re new to PaleGirlRambling then I’ll give you a little run down on my skin type, I have very sensitive skin that tends to be dry and dehydrated, I get the odd breakout if I react to a product or my hormones are up the left but I’m quite lucky that I haven’t overly suffered with spots or acne.
I’ve alternated between mainly two cleansers this year, Pai’s Gentle Cleanser or Ren’s Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk, both are a dream for sensitive skin. Neither irritate my eyes which is amazing as almost every makeup remover I try does and as they’re both creamy they don’t dry out my skin as I cleanse. I also swear by the Jane Iredale Magic Mitt, I’ve been using these mitts since I was a teenager, I try to buy a new one every 3/6 months. I wash my face with the mitt every morning and evening whether I’m cleansing or not, these mitts are also amazing for removing makeup.
I find exfoliating quite difficult with my sensitive skin as most seem to be too abrasive and irritating. I was gifted Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant months ago and thought I’d give it a go and have been pleasantly surprised! Rather than a microbead exfoliator the microfoliant is a rice based powder that when mixed with water releases enzymes to polish your skin. I use this in the shower maybe twice a week, it’s super gentle but still smooths your skin, I’d highly recommend this for sensitive skinned gals.
I found a new moisturiser this year that’s become a firm favourite, Re-Boost from the new My Clarin’s range. This moisturiser is gel like rather than creamy so a little different than what I usually go for but I really love how refreshing it feels on my skin, almost like a drink of water for my face! It certainly wakes me up in the morning when I apply this and gives me a kick to start my day!
I love face masks, I would use multiple everyday if I got the chance! Two in particular though have been my absolute favs this year, my trusty Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask and a new find for 2019, Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask. I’ll not go on about the Omorovicza Mask too long as if you’ve read previous skincare posts you’ll already know I swear by it. Any time I get spots coming up I apply this mask and the difference it makes is insane. It cleans out your pores leaving your skin feeling fresh and clean but doesn’t dry out your skin. A must have mask for your bathroom cupboard in my opinion! Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Mask is a gel mask that hydrated and softens your skin. I love to apply this in the morning while I’m getting ready, it wakes me up and leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to go, I also adore the fresh watermelon scent.
Up until this year I really hadn’t found an eye cream that I’d fallen in love with, I’d tried a few that were nice enough but nothing that made me go wow, until I tried It Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream. This little pot of goodness is rich and creamy but absorbs super fast. It has anti ageing properties along with brightening your under eye area.
I love a good lip balm and have been eyeing up Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatments for the longest time. I finally treated myself to some this year and love the tint they give. They can be used instead of lipsticks if your lips are feeling particularly dry. My finakky skincare fav of 2019 is Dermalogica’s Nightly Lip Treatment I only discovered this in December but I’ve used it each evening before I go to bed since and I adore it. It leave my lips soft and smooth in the morning and is also hopefully working it’s magic and minimising signs of ageing!
What skincare treats have you loved this year? Anything you’d recommend I try?
