I’ve always loved doing my nails and take great pride in my nail care routine. When Maniko, a German brand launching in the U.K., got in touch and asked if I’d like to trial their nail polish strips I was extremely excited and intrigued. They sent over the MANIKO Nails Starter Set to try out and I’m throughly impressed!
The Maniko Nails starter set contains a choice of two nail polish strip sets, a top coat that helps to seal the strip to your nail so it lasts even longer, nail polish remover and a glass nail file (my favourite and the only type of nail file I’ll use!) all beautifully packaged in a reusable bubble bag so you can keep everything together. You can also purchase an additional base coat that nurtures your nail and encourages nail growth as well as creating the perfect base for the nail polish strips.
There’s a large range of nail polish strip colours to choose from (and Maniko are adding plenty more as the weeks go on) as well as the newly released Mix & Match collection. I chose Neo Mint and Power along with two ombre sets, Nude Baby Boomer and Rose Baby Boomer.
Application is actually much easier than I thought it was going to be. Just like when doing a manicure with nail polish, prepping your nails is super important. Use nail polish remover to remove any residue on your nails and push back and remove cuticles. Select the nail polish strip that’s the correct width for your nail, if you’re between sizes you’re better to select the thinner strip. The strip sizes are numbers so you can remember what size was perfect for you on future applications. If your nails aren’t overly long then you can cut each strip in half so you’ll get twice the amount of strips per pack! Simply peel the strip off the backing and apply to your nail being careful to attach to the nail and not cuticle, bend the excess strip round the edge of your nail and file off any excess using the glass file included. Apply your top coat and you’re good to go!
Maniko Nail Strips can be easily removed using acetone free nail polish remover and a cotton pad so no damage to your natural nails!
I’ve found that because the nail polish is being applied in a single strip it’s much less likely to chip and lasts way longer, even with constant hand washing! I also love how quick application is compared to painting your nails. No need for two or three coats of polish with drying time in between to get a nice colour on your nails.
I’m so impressed with Maniko’s nail polish strips, they really do make manicures fuss free and easy which is just what I need as a busy toddler mum. I’m already eyeing up more colours and the new Mix & Match range.
