Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet Review & Swatches

I’m not going to lie I didn’t wear a lot of makeup in 2020 because if you read my 2020 skincare and makeup favourites you’ll already know I put myself on a make up no buy last year in a bid to use up the bucket load of gorgeous products I already own. Urban Decay kindly gifted me their Naked Ultraviolet palette though and I couldn’t say no to such a stunning palette, it’s totally different to anything else I own. I’ve had loads of fun playing around with it over the past couple of months.

Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet Review & Swatches

Urban Decay’s Naked Ultraviolet consists of 12 shades in either a matte, metallic or sparkly holographic finish. Unlike all the other Naked palettes where all the shades are pretty neutral and tend to fall into the same colour range this palette has a real mix of colours making it very versatile and great value for money. I am head over heels in love with the packaging of this palette, not only is it sturdy (so you don’t have to worry about the shadows getting damaged) but the purple, pink marbled swirl design is just stunning.

The left hand side of the palette has 5 beautiful neutral shades made for everyday wear and I’m not going to lie is the side I reach for the most. I can’t help it, I’m a neutral gal through and through! The right hand side has 6 purple, pink and blue toned much more out there colours perfect for when you’re feeling more adventurous or for a night out (not that we’re having any of those these days!). All the shadows are beautiful to blend and very pigmented. As with a lot of matte shades there is some fall out if you start with too much product on your brush but as long as you start light handed and build the colour you can avoid this.

Lucid is a really cool addition to this palette, it’s a very sheer shadow with a holographic finish which can be used with the neutral or purpley blue shadows. It’s unlike any shade I’ve used before but I’ve particularly enjoyed experimenting with it.

This palette is definitely a more out there palette for me but I’ve really loved playing with the colours. V.R. is most definitely my favourite shade from the palette, it’s the most perfect sparkly nude to add something special to your everyday eye makeup.

What do you think of the Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet palette? Is it a palette you’d like to add to your collection?
