Finally summer time is almost here and now we’re no longer in lockdown we can get out and about and make the most of the lovely sun this year. Of course your skin is likely to be tired, dry and dull after the winter months stuck inside with the heating on full blast and the cold winter air.
Spring is the perfect time to refresh your skincare routine so that your skin is ready for summer. Boots UK kindly treated me to some new products to get my skin glowing, hydrated and summer ready so I thought I’d pop together a post with some recommendations.

An essential for your spring and summer skincare line up is SPF! You ideally should wear an SPF all year round as the sun is still lurking up there behind the clouds during the winter and spring. Using a moisturiser like Garnier’s SkinActive Vitamin C Serum cream with SPF 25 is a great all rounder no matter the weather. Vitamin C is a brightening ingredient that leaves your skin radiant and glowing.
During the summer months though you should make sure you’re using a high factor SPF daily (with top ups during the day too!) My new favourite every day SPF is Hello Sunday’s Serum Face Sunscreen. With SPF 45 it’s ultra protecting while being lightweight and comfortable to wear. The formula is enriched with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C to hydrate and brighten throughout the day. It’s also fragrance free so perfect for those like me with sensitive skin. I love how my skin feels while wearing and there’s no sticky or greasy residue so a perfect sunscreen to apply makeup over the top of. Honestly I’m obsessed. It’s on the more pricey side for a sunscreen but it’s worth the splurge in my opinion.

If there’s one thing you take away from this post it’s that SPF Skincare is a must have in your spring and summer skincare routine.
Another product I picked up is a firm favourite from last year, La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios Invisible Fluid Suncream. Just like Hello Sunday’s Serum this is ultra lightweight while still offering SPF 50+ protection. Can you sense a theme here? This is another suncream great for sensitive skin, it doesn’t irritate my eye area which is a must!

Something that can regularly be forgotten is protecting your lips from the sun. Hello Sunday have launched a Factor 50 Sun Cream lip balm perfect for hydrating your lips and keeping them safe from sun damage. As a teen I did a lot of water sports and my lips were always sunburnt and dry after a day out on the water so this has been a revolutionary find for me! A little squeezey tube of magic and at only £5 it’s well worth purchasing to pop in your handbag or beach bag and top up as you get on with your day.
There’s nothing more important than hydrating your skin after a day out in the sun. Liz Earle’s Hydrating Cream Mask is a relatively new product to me and one I’ve fallen in love with. I apply a thick layer after cleansing before getting into the shower and let it work it’s magic for 10 minutes while I shampoo and condition. It’s soothing, hydrating and honestly my skin feels so soft afterwards. It’s such a treat and definitely a mask I’ll be using regularly throughout the year.

The final thing is picked up from my little Boots haul is Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. I love this moisturiser and it’s one I’ve repurchased numerous times over the past few years. It’s perfect for dry and sensitive skin. It can be used morning and night and leaves skin feeling soft, hydrated and nourished.
I hope this post was helpful in inspiring you to refresh your skincare line up ahead of the summer. All products mentioned can be picked up online at Boots.com and remember, an SPF is a must to protect your skin from the sun!
